Anomaly – SOLD

Updated September, 2023. After three years of ownership we sold Anomaly to focus on land travel in our Airstream. We love boat life and loved loved loved Anomaly and the American Tug build and quality, and we plan to return to cruising at some point in the future. For now, we want to experience more of what this country has to offer!

Anomaly is a 2006 American Tug 34. We are number 985 (more on that later). She was well cared for by the previous owner and we feel honored that she came into our lives at the exact right time. American Tugs are made in Washington state at a very high quality.

Anomaly is 36.5 feet LOA with a draft of 3.5 feet and a beam of 13′ 5″. The AT 34 is the flagship of the AT line and is known as the perfect cruising boat for couples. Drinks for six, dinner for four and sleeping for two. The layout is a raised pilothouse, which provides great 360-degree views from the helm and co-pilot seating, a forward master stateroom and full-size head (including a walk-in shower), and a salon/galley area with a settee that converts to a double berth as well. She has a lot of storage, carries 400 gallons of fuel, 150 gallons of water and has a 46-gallon blackwater holding tank (good for about 10-days between pump-outs for us).

Anomaly is powered by a 380hp Cummins QSB5.9 diesel engine, features a bow thruster, and has a 6kw generator capable of delivering 50-amp service. There are two HVAC systems for air conditioning and heat, and two other heat sources onboard as well. We have used both heat and AC while under way and the enclosed pilothouse is comfortable in any conditions we want to venture out in. We have an inflatable dinghy and outboard hanging off the stern via davits, which is easily deployable with an electric winch and makes for a great ride to-and-from an anchorage, or just to zip around the harbor exploring.

I mention we are number 34-985. Normally that number would be 34-85, indicating we were the 85th American Tug 34 built by the factory. But apparently an extra build was squeezed into the 2005-2006 production schedule, and because subsequent numbers had already been issued (86, 87, etc.), our boat was given an unusual number – 34-985. So she really is an Anomaly!

We love her and have enjoyed every minute since welcoming her to our family in late July, 2020. Here are a few photos and the broker video from the listing when we purchased her, which does a better job of walking through her interior than any photos.
